As artificial intelligence advances at a rapid pace, AI is profoundly reshaping children’s development, digital content consumption, and family education. In recent years, Yifan Ou, a communication scholar, has conducted extensive research on artificial intelligence, human networks and psychological behavior, and consumer behavior, with a particular focus on children’s development in the AI era, children’s consumer behavior, and innovation in intelligent digital content.
As a digital content platform dedicated to the development of children aged 3 to 12, Xiaodengta has built a comprehensive curriculum covering scientific exploration, history and culture, Chinese classics, arts and aesthetic education, early reading, communication and self-expression, and critical thinking. Through animated, story-driven, and interactive learning experiences, the platform helps children cultivate a love of learning and develop independent exploration skills, while accumulating extensive practical experience in the field of children’s digital content.
Yifan Ou was invited to participate in the development of Xiaodengta’s children’s public speaking curriculum. Drawing on theories and insights from communication studies, she contributed to the curriculum design and worked with the platform to explore the application of digital technologies in fostering children’s communication and self-expression skills. This collaboration marked one of her earliest engagements in children’s digital education practice and further strengthened her long-term research interest in children’s development, digital content, and AI-enabled education.

In recent years, the rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence has created new opportunities for children’s content creation, AI-powered companionship, and family education, while also sparking widespread discussions about children’s consumer behavior, digital literacy, and healthy development. Yifan Ou believes that, beyond improving children’s access to knowledge, the future of AI should place greater emphasis on fostering children’s creativity, communication skills, psychological well-being, and healthy digital consumption habits.
Yifan Ou commented: “My collaboration with Xiaodengta has deepened my appreciation of the value that digital content can bring to children’s development. As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, I look forward to collaborating with more industry partners, including education technology companies, to explore innovative AI-driven approaches to supporting children’s growth. Together, we hope to develop solutions that are both academically valuable and practically meaningful for children’s education and the digital lives of modern families.
